Falls Church City Public Schools are purportedly considering closing all schools on Tuesday, January 20, 2009 (Inauguration Day). An unprecedented 3 to 4 million people are expected to attend inaugural events in downtown Washington DC on January 20th. The large crowds would guarantee transportation problems throughout the region.
George Mason High School has an already scheduled school holiday for January 19 and 20, but Mount Daniel, Thomas Jefferson, and Mary Ellen Henderson schools are still scheduled as school days as of November 27th.
No word on the schedule for St. James Catholic or other private schools in the city.
